Habitat Suitability Index Assessments

Service Description

This course will teach participants how to conduct a Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) assesments for Atlantic salmon and brook trout. Day 1 of the course will include a thorough explanation of the assessment process and field sheets in the morning, followed by a field session in the afternoon. During the field session, participants will be split into groups and complete a transect of an HSI assessment. Day 2 will involve discussing the results of the previous day's HSI assessment and any issues or questions participants encountered during the assessment. We will also go over the potential restoration measures that can be used based on the HSI results.
